Unité et diversité de la science politique francophone

Le repérage d’une spécificité francophone de la science politique sera au cœur de cette Conférence plénière d’ouverture du Congrès. L’objectif sera moins d’identifier une hypothétique « tradition disciplinaire » de langue française que d’évoquer les caractéristiques et composantes contemporaines de notre discipline dans 4 aires culturelles de langue française (Belgique, France, Québec, Suisse) en comparaison avec l’état de la discipline au niveau international. Par l’histoire de leur développement scientifique, par les modalités différenciées de leur structuration internationale, par la singularité des débats épistémologiques qui les constituent et parfois les distinguent, par la géographie des frontières disciplinaires dont elles ont hérité, le croisement de ces 4 cas doit nous permettre de préciser les conditions de possibilité d’une science politique francophone et plus encore de son affirmation au niveau international. Une attention particulière sera ici accordée aux influences internationales qui marquent aujourd’hui ces différents champs scientifiques, mais aussi aux formes de résistances académiques ou institutionnelles qui continuent peut-être à spécifier le développement des connaissances scientifiques de la science politique francophone.

Unity and variety of the French-speaking political science

The identification of a French-speaking specificity of the political science will be the focus of this plenary conference opening the Congress. The objective will be less to identify an hypothetical French spoken « disciplinary tradition » than to evoke the characteristics and the contemporary constituents of our discipline in 4 French speaking cultural areas (Belgium, France, Quebec, Switzerland) in comparison with the state of the discipline at the international level. By the history of their scientific development, by the modalities of their international situation, by the peculiarity of the scientific debates which establish them and sometimes distinguish them, by the geography of the disciplinary borders which they inherited, the crossing of these 4 study cases allows us to clarify the conditions of possibility for a French-speaking political science and even more, of its assertion at the international level. A particular attention will be given here to the international influences which mark these various scientific fields today, but also to the forms of academic or institutional resistances which continue maybe to specify the development of knowledge in political science.
