En science politique, les relations internationales et la théorie politique sont deux sous-disciplines dont la position apparaît paradoxale : d’un côté, elles constituent des domaines « classiques » de la discipline en France et dans le monde, suscitant un intérêt croissant des étudiants, en partie nourri par la nouvelle spécialité HGGSP (Histoire, géographie, géopolitique, science politique) au lycée ; de l’autre, elles ne forment pas ou plus le « cœur » de la discipline en France, où la sociologie politique s’est imposée non plus seulement comme un sous-champ mais comme un paradigme irriguant l’ensemble du spectre politiste, tant sur le volet enseignement que recherche.

A l’occasion de ce Congrès AFSP, le groupe « Enseigner la science politique » voudrait interroger la place de ces deux sous-disciplines au sein des cursus de science politique. On explorera les pratiques d’enseignement, le rôle des manuels, les thématiques de prédilection dans un contexte où ces sous-champs dialoguent avec d’autres disciplines connexes : histoire, philosophie, sociologie, droit…

Les deux panels prendront la forme de deux tables rondes où des collègues issus de divers horizons (institutionnels, scientifiques, épistémologiques) répondront à un canevas de questions qui leur seront préalablement soumises par les modérateurs.

In political science, international relations and political theory are two sub-disciplines whose position appears paradoxical. On the one hand, they are “classical” fields of the discipline in France and worldwide, attracting growing student interest, partly fueled by the new HGGSP specialization (History, Geography, Geopolitics, Political Science) in French high schools. On the other hand, they no longer constitute the “core” of the discipline in France, where political sociology has established itself not merely as a subfield but as a paradigm permeating the entire spectrum of political science, in both teaching and research.

On the occasion of this AFSP Congress, the group “Teaching Political Science” seeks to examine the place of these two sub-disciplines within political science curricula. We will explore teaching practices, the role of textbooks, and preferred themes in a context where these subfields interact with other related disciplines: history, philosophy, sociology, law, and others.

The two panels will take the form of roundtable discussions in which colleagues from diverse backgrounds (institutional, academic, epistemological) will respond to a set of questions previously sent to them by the moderators.
